Drivers warned about fake motorway vignette website

Czech authorities are warning drivers about a fraudulent website mimicking the official vignette portal edalnice.cz. The scam site, operating under the domain edalnices.com, is not affiliated with the official system and although it displays correct pricing, drivers can be overcharged and do not receive a valid vignette after payment.

If unsuspecting drivers purchase the vignette through the fake site and subsequently use the paid freeway system, they could be stopped by the authorities and face a fine of up to 20 000 CZK for using freeways without a valid digital vignette.

According to Radka Nastoupilová, spokesperson for Cendis, the state company operating the official site, the fake site may withdraw significantly higher amounts than displayed on the site, sometimes reaching several thousand crowns.

Cendis and the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure say they are now working with authorities to take down the fraudulent page. Drivers are urged to double-check the website address before making any purchase.
