Taxis targeted in joint enforcement operation at Prague Airport

A two-day enforcement operation targeting taxi services near Václav Havel Airport resulted in fines totaling CZK 15,000 and the seizure of over CZK 62,000 in connection to outstanding balances for violations recorded in the CEPAN information system.

The joint enforcement operation, code-named USAIN 2025, was conducted on April 11 and 12 by the Customs Office Prague Ruzyně in cooperation with the Taxi Team of the Prague Municipal Police.

The Customs Administration said in a press release that one taxi driver was arrested and handed over to the national law enforcement agency, Police of the Czech Republic, after being found in possession of 0.65 grams of cocaine. Authorities also say they seized a some amount of unexplained cash during the operation.

The inspections took place in two locations: the airport’s taxi parking area on April 11 and a nearby Shell gas station on April 12. The goal was to verify compliance with legal requirements for taxi operations, with a focus on both passenger safety and the legality of transport services.

Officers checked for drug possession, customs violations, valid licenses, driving bans, illegal employment of foreign nationals, and individuals or weapons listed in police databases. A total of 26 personnel participated, including 14 customs officers (with two narcotics dogs), two administrative staff, and 10 municipal police officers.

Authorities said the operation demonstrates strong cooperation between national and municipal agencies in ensuring public safety in passenger transport.
