A pair of thieves stole both front headlights from a Škoda Octavia just moments after its owner parked in Mirošovská Street, Prague 11, earlier this month. The theft, caught on security footage, took less than a minute.
According to a footage released by police, a man watched the woman as she parked and locked her car. Once she walked away, he approached it, used an unknown tool to unlock the door, and opened the vehicle. He briefly left, then returned with an accomplice. One man opened the car, released the hood latch, and both removed a headlight before fleeing with one each.
The damage, including the broken lock, has been estimated at several tens of thousands of crowns.
Police say they are investigating dozens of similar cases in recent months, primarily targeting Škoda Octavia and Volvo models. Anyone with information is urged to contact line 158. The suspects could face up to two years in prison if convicted.
