Traffic closures planned for Sunday’s Prague marathon

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Prague will host the 30th edition of the Orlen Prague Marathon, welcoming more than 10,000 runners from around the world. The race will start at 9:00 a.m. on Old Town Square and follow a 42.195 km route through the capital, crossing seven bridges and passing many of the city’s historic landmarks.

While the marathon is a major sporting celebration, it will also bring widespread traffic restrictions throughout central Prague. Roads and intersections along the race course will be closed and reopened in stages from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The route passes through parts of Prague 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8, with extended closures on streets like Pařížská, Celetná, and Václavské náměstí.

Parking will be banned in affected areas on May 3 and 4, and unauthorized vehicles will be towed. Several tram and bus lines will be temporarily rerouted; metro service will remain in operation and may be reinforced.

Up-to-date information, including hotline numbers and full traffic details, is available on the Prague Transport Company website and the official marathon organizer’s site.
