A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Hradčanská tram stop in Prague, where a tram struck a twelve-year-old boy. The child became trapped underneath the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters.
Bystanders immediately began CPR, which was later taken over by emergency medical teams. Despite 45 minutes of resuscitation efforts, the boy, who was identified as a foreign national, died at the scene.
Emergency responders including police, firefighters, and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. A crisis intervention team was also present to assist. The police confirmed that the tram driver tested negative for alcohol and are currently investigating the course of the incident.
Tram service between Vítězné náměstí and Hradčanská was suspended, with vehicles rerouted via Brusnice and Prague Castle. Traffic at the accident site was restricted due to the emergency response.
