Customs intercept fake erectile dysfunction drugs in postal shipments

Customs officers in the Zlín Region have intercepted multiple postal shipments containing illegal pharmaceuticals, mainly fake erectile dysfunction medications. The packages were ordered online and sent to recipients in several EU countries.

Testing by the State Institute for Drug Control confirmed the pills lacked the active ingredient sildenafil. Despite being marketed as potency drugs, they were ineffective counterfeits.

Officials warn these substances can endanger health—especially when combined with existing medical conditions. In some cases, they may even cause fatal reactions.

Customs officers say the goal of these inspections is to stop the spread of dangerous, unregulated drugs. They also aim to protect potential users who may unknowingly consume these counterfeit products.

Authorities confirmed that these checks will continue as part of ongoing public health protection efforts.
