Czech police have deployed an immigration specialist to Athens International Airport to help curb illegal migration. The deployment, announced Tuesday by the Czech Foreign Police Directorate, follows several months of negotiations with Greek authorities.
The officer — an expert in document verification and border security — will work directly with Greek counterparts to identify transit migrants before they board flights to Prague. Authorities say the Athens–Prague route has become one of the most frequently misused air corridors for illegal transit migration into Western Europe since 2024.
Officials describe the mission as a concrete example of international cooperation on migration control, one that also helps build trust among EU member states.
