Man arrested after breaking into vending machine at Prague metro

Municipal police say they apprehended a 19-year-old man who, along with an accomplice, allegedly broke into a vending machine inside Prague’s Skalka metro station early Monday morning. According to police, the suspect used a telescopic baton to smash the machine and stole a large quantity of beverages.

Authorities have released surveillance footage showing two masked individuals breaking into the machine, loading drinks into a black bag, and fleeing toward Goyova Street. A witness reported the incident to nearby officers at around 2:30 a.m., prompting an immediate search.

Police say both suspects attempted to flee on foot upon spotting officers. One managed to escape, while the other was reportedly apprehended using force. Officers stated they found a butterfly knife in the suspect’s pocket during a search.

The man sustained a minor injury during the break-in, which officers treated on site. He was later handed over to state police for further investigation.
