Man dies after boat collision on Sázava River in Prague-West District

Police say a man was found dead following a boating incident over the weekend on the Sázava River near Pikovice, in Prague-West District. According to investigators, a rubber motorboat carrying three men reportedly collided with a moored vessel late on Saturday night.

Officers stated that the impact threw two passengers into the water. One of them, born in 1985, was reportedly rescued thanks to the quick reaction of the boat’s owner. The second man, aged 32, remained missing despite an overnight search.

Authorities said more than 20 responders, including police divers, firefighters, and members of the river unit, took part in the operation. The search resumed on Sunday, when divers located the man’s body in the river. Police said the victim’s relatives had been notified.

According to initial findings, the boat was operated by a man holding a valid small vessel license. Police reported that they had launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash and had informed the State Navigation Administration, which oversees inland waterways.
