Police carry out coordinated evening operation in central Prague

Dozens of police officers took part in a coordinated operation at two busy locations in Prague on Wednesday evening. Police say, they were targeting immigration violations, forged documents, wanted individuals, and drug-related offenses.

According to the police, the crackdown began at 8 p.m. and was conducted simultaneously at Anděl and Karlovo náměstí — two locations that are frequently associated with drug use and public intoxication.

It involved members of the foreign police, criminal investigators, public order units, and the Customs Administration. Police said trained dogs were used during the operation to assist with drug detection.

Officers reportedly checked over 200 people. Nine foreign nationals were detained on suspicion of unlawful residence, and police said one individual was wanted nationwide under an arrest warrant.

Several other offenses were addressed on the spot, including drug possession and violations of residency regulations.

Authorities noted that both areas are subject to daily police presence and random checks, with coordinated operations of this scale taking place multiple times each month.
