The thefts started in mid-April in Austria when two men broke into a business, stealing multiple sets of the popular toy and around 1,000 euros in cash, officials said.

Encouraged by their success, the duo later reportedly involved a female accomplice and targeted another store on May 23rd, stealing an additional 15 pallets of Lego, more cash, and two electric scooters.

According to Czech police spokesperson Jiří Matzner, the suspects rented vehicles in the Czech Republic to transport stolen goods, hiding the merchandise in discreet containers within the country. Authorities tracked down these containers and swiftly apprehended the trio as they awaited buyers.

According to the police report, one suspect briefly attempted to evade capture by hiding in a tree during the arrest.

The suspects face extradition to Austria under European arrest warrants. They are charged with burglary, money laundering, and causing substantial financial damages.
