The training, which aims to simulate a response to potential threats, will also restrict access to a large part of Hradčany Square, where logistical support for participating units will be based.

Officials have urged the public heading to the castle to either plan their visit early in the day, or to choose another day for their visit. Nearby residents were thanked in advance for their patience during the disruption.

According to the Czech Police and the Office of the President, the exercise is part of a nationwide series focused on protecting so-called soft targets. However, it will be the first of its kind to take place at Prague Castle in cooperation with the presidential administration.

Media access will not be permitted in the restricted area due to the confidentiality of tactical procedures.
