Just before 1 a.m., an operator monitoring Prague’s municipal camera system observed what seemed to be an act of vandalism. A young man in a black hoodie was seen spraying silver paint directly onto a security camera lens near the Budějovická bus stop, according to Prague Municipal Police.
A patrol was dispatched immediately, police say. By the time officers arrived, the nearly 18-year-old suspect had also spray-painted the glass shelter and the stop’s signage. Three other individuals were present during the incident and watched.
Due to the suspected criminal offense, officers called in the state police, who took over the case for further investigation.
According to Section 228(2) of the Czech Criminal Code, whoever damages another’s property by spraying, painting, or marking it with paint or another substance may be punished by up to one year in prison.
