Teenager arrested during break-in at Prague shop

Police say they arrested a 16-year-old inside a store on Internacionální Street after he allegedly broke in early on Thursday, April 10.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 4 a.m. following reports of loud noises and breaking glass. On arrival, they found the shop’s glass door shattered and a pickaxe lying nearby.

Suspecting the intruder was still inside, police secured the perimeter and waited for the store owner to arrive with keys. During a search of the premises, officers found a masked teenager holding a bag filled with stolen items, including tobacco and alcohol valued at several thousand crowns.

The teen was detained on the spot.

The suspect is now facing theft charges. As a minor, he faces a reduced sentence of up to one year if convicted.
