Prague police have identified the man suspected of stealing large quantities of personal hygiene items from stores across the city. They say public tips and media reports led them to the 32-year-old foreign national.
The case has drawn attention in recent weeks after the suspect was captured on camera in multiple incidents. He was seen stealing large quantities of toothpaste and other items. Mean Prague has reported on the case three times, as the suspect repeatedly struck supermarkets and drugstores in different parts of the city.
Authorities confirmed that the man is a 32-year-old foreign national who is already in custody in connection with a separate criminal case. He is now also suspected of committing at least seven similar thefts across Prague.
Police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová thanked the public and media for their cooperation. She noted that information received after the release of surveillance footage played a key role in confirming the man’s identity.
Criminal proceedings related to the thefts are ongoing.
