Biker busted with stolen bike, fake plates, drugs, and driving ban

A 42-year-old man was detained by police in Prague after being found riding a stolen motorcycle under the influence of drugs and despite having a driving ban, officials say.

Stolen motorcycle

The incident took place on Saturday, May 17th, in Prague’s Radotín. Officers from the local precinct noticed a motorcycle on K Výtopně street displaying a license plate that belonged to a different vehicle. The rider voluntarily pulled over into the emergency lane after spotting the police in his mirrors.

Upon inspection, officers discovered the motorcycle was listed as stolen. The rider claimed he had bought it five days earlier from a friend for a few thousand crowns. He admitted to acquiring a license plate from someone else, allegedly to avoid drawing attention from police patrols.

A drug test returned positive results for methamphetamine and marijuana, although a breath test for alcohol was negative, police stated in a report. It was also revealed the man had a driving ban valid until September this year.

According to police spokesperson Jan Rybanský, the man was taken to the local station for questioning and is suspected of committing the criminal offense of obstructing an official decision.
