Driver crashes into retention pond, witness rescues woman and child

A car crashed into a retention pond in Prague’s Letňany district on Wednesday morning after veering off the road near the Cínovecká to Kostelecká street exit. According to police spokesperson Kristýna Zelinková, the woman driver lost control of the vehicle shortly before 9:00 a.m. and ended up in the water.

A witness who was driving behind the vehicle reportedly jumped into the pond and pulled both the woman and a child from the car. Emergency responders took them to the hospital for a precautionary check, although neither appeared to be seriously injured.

Police confirmed that a breath test administered to the driver was negative for alcohol.
