Four dead, one airlifted after collision in north-eastern Bohemia

A serious crash between two cars near Dvůr Králové nad Labem claimed four lives on Tuesday evening. The accident happened on the I/37 road between Choustníkovo Hradiště and Kocbeře in the Trutnov district.

Firefighters reported that one of the drivers had to be freed from the wreck. “We worked with paramedics and police in treating the injured,” said fire service spokesperson Martina Götzová.

According to emergency services, four rescue teams, a doctor, an operations inspector and two helicopters from Hradec Králové and Liberec were sent to the scene. The surviving man suffered injuries to his limbs and pelvis and was flown in serious condition to the University Hospital in Hradec Králové.

Police in Trutnov have taken over the case and are investigating the cause and circumstances of the fatal crash. The road was completely closed, with traffic diverted via detours.
