Emergency services responded on Thursday afternoon to a dramatic report from Vysočanská street in Prague. A caller informed municipal police that a man wearing a bulletproof vest and holding a gun was walking from a department store toward the metro station. The information was immediately passed to state police, and patrols from both forces rushed to the area.
Officers later received word that the man was sitting on a bench in Přátelství park. Given the seriousness of the situation, they surrounded the area and used the threat of a service weapon to secure him. After disarming the individual, it turned out he was carrying only a plastic airsoft pistol resembling a Glock.
State police have taken over the case for further resolution. No one was injured during the intervention.
