South Moravian rescuers simulate emergency landing in Brno

A training exercise organized by the South Moravian Emergency Medical Service took place on Thursday at Brno–Tuřany Airport, simulating an emergency landing after sudden cabin decompression. The scenario involved a damaged aircraft window on a Boeing 737-800, resulting in dozens of “injured” passengers portrayed by made-up volunteers.

The event was part of a coordinated exercise involving firefighters, police, airport staff, and airline representatives. Medical teams practiced triage and treatment procedures, as well as the rapid transport of simulated patients to hospitals. Firefighters secured the aircraft and surroundings, while police managed coordination and safety at the site.

Roman Dvořák from the service’s crisis unit said the exercise once again tested communication and cooperation among emergency teams. He thanked all participants and noted that such complex interventions could easily occur in real life.
