Winter weather has tightened its grip on the Czech Republic this evening, creating hazardous driving conditions that extend well beyond a single region. Frost and snowfall are disrupting traffic across the eastern and northern parts of the country, triggering a series of accidents and road closures.

The deterioration in visibility and surface conditions has been rapid. On major transit routes like the D35, commercial traffic has ground to a halt in places, with jackknifed trucks blocking lanes and complicating logistics.
The problems aren’t limited to the highways. Regional networks are facing similar struggles as drivers grapple with slick roads. Near Hradec Králové, serious collisions have forced authorities to close thoroughfares completely while emergency crews attend to the injured.

It is a busy night for first responders, who are moving between incidents ranging from minor slide-offs to multi-car crashes. With precipitation continuing, travel outside of major city centers remains unpredictable, and authorities are advising extreme caution for anyone venturing onto regional roads tonight.
