Prague investigators are appealing to the public for information following a devastating collision between a city bus and a pedestrian that resulted in life-altering injuries. The incident occurred on January 15, shortly after 7:00 a.m., near the Smíchovské nádraží transit hub on Nádražní Street.

According to police spokesperson Eva Kropáčová, the victim sustained critical, life-threatening injuries in the crash. Local reports indicate the woman underwent an amputation of both legs as a result of the impact. While the exact circumstances of the collision remain under investigation, authorities are working to determine whether the fault lies with the driver, the pedestrian, or external factors.
Detectives are specifically looking to speak with passengers who were on board the bus at the time of the accident. They are interested in interviewing those who first alerted the driver to the collision, as well as several bystanders who reportedly stepped in to provide immediate first aid before emergency services arrived.
“To properly clarify the entire event and determine the cause and the person responsible for this accident, we ask all witnesses who saw how the collision happened and what preceded it to call 158,” Kropáčová stated in a public appeal issued Friday.
The Smíchovské nádraží area is one of Prague’s busiest transport nodes, and police believe more witnesses may have been commuting through the intersection during the morning rush. No charges have been filed yet as the forensic analysis of the scene continues.
