A crash involving a van and a truck temporarily shut down traffic on the Prague Ring Road on Tuesday after one of the drivers became trapped inside the vehicle, according to Prague firefighters and local authorities.

The collision occurred near the 14-kilometre mark of the ring road in the direction of the D5 motorway, in the Lochkov area. Emergency services responded to the scene, where firefighters from three stations rescued one injured driver from the wreckage. An air ambulance also landed at the site, Prague firefighters said.
Authorities initially closed the carriageway towards the airport and the D5 motorway while emergency crews worked at the scene. Firefighters later spread absorbent material on leaked operating fluids and carried out additional fire prevention measures.

Traffic was subsequently restored in one lane, according to the Prague 16 district authority and the Prague Fire Brigade. No further details about the injured driver or the cause of the crash were immediately available.
