Police officers carried out another large-scale overnight operation in central Prague, checking nearly 400 people and more than 200 vehicles as part of an ongoing effort to address drug-related offences, street crime and public order.

According to Prague Police, around 25 officers took part in the operation, which ran from around 4 p.m. on July 2 until about 1 a.m. on July 3. The checks focused on Hořejší nábřeží, Rašínovo nábřeží, Karlovo náměstí, Smíchov, Anděl and nearby streets.
Police said they dealt with 56 traffic and public-order offences, issuing on-the-spot fines totalling CZK 38,000. Officers also stopped a driver who was allegedly banned from driving and was transporting four foreign nationals who did not have the required permits to stay in the Czech Republic.
The operation also led to the location of two people who were wanted to begin serving prison sentences, as well as another person sought by police, according to the force.
Police described the operation as the third of its kind in recent weeks and said similar enforcement actions will continue in the coming months.
